Idaho Fish and Game investigating illegal killing and waste of bull elk in Bingham County

Idaho Fish and Game is seeking information regarding the illegal killing and waste of a bull elk in southeast Idaho.

The dead bull was discovered by a member of the public on Sellars Creek Road between Blackfoot Reservoir Road and Long Valley Road in Bingham County. The elk was shot from the road multiple times with a centerfire rifle sometime between Sept. 4 and Sept. 5, likely at night.

The elk was left to waste with only its antlers removed.

Known violations related to this case include killing a big game animal with a centerfire rifle during an archery-only season and waste of game.

Anyone with any information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact Fish and Game Senior Conservation Officer Mitch Newhouse at 208-576-1752 or the Citizens Against Poaching hotline at 1-800-632-5999. Callers may remain anonymous and those with information leading to an arrest are eligible for rewards.
