DEC Region 8 Announces Temporary Closure of Maxwell Bay Fishing Access Site Parking Lot

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) today announced the planned temporary closure of the parking lot at Maxwell Bay Fishing Access Site, on Lake Road, off Route 101, Town of Sodus, Wayne County. The closure is due to preventative sealcoating maintenance to improve safety and extend the life of the parking area.

The parking lot will be closed beginning Wednesday, September 9, 2026, with an anticipated reopening on Friday, September 11, 2026. The project rain date is September 16, reopening September 18.
