Snohomish County Honors Breum Family as 2026 Centennial Farm
SNOHOMISH COUNTY, Wash., August 11, 2026 – Each year at the Evergreen State Fair, Snohomish County honors a family that have remained in continuous agricultural production on the same land under the same family ownership for 100 years or more. This year the Breum family of Stanwood is being honored at the fair’s opening ceremony on August 27 at 2 p.m. Their story reflects five generations of dedication to farming, innovation, and stewardship that have helped shape the agricultural landscape of Snohomish County.
"For more than a century the Breum family has adapted to changing markets, embraced innovation, and remained dedicated to caring for the land,” said Linda Neunzig, Snohomish County Agricultural Coordinator. “Their legacy is a testament to the important role family farms continue to play in Snohomish County's economy, environment, and rural communities."
Today, Breum Family Farm is owned by fourth generation Mike and Pam Breum and their sons Sean and Tyler Breum. They farm is approximately 800 acres including a diverse mix of specialty seed, potato, and row crops. Their farm is rooted in stewardship, innovation, and a steadfast commitment to preserving the agricultural heritage of the Stillaguamish Valley.
“Agriculture is a core piece of Snohomish County’s history, economy and community,” County Executive Dave Somers said. “Each year at the Fair, I look forward to celebrating a family like the Breums that has carried on that legacy of farming.”
The County's Centennial Farm Program recognizes families who have farmed in Snohomish County for 100 years or more, celebrating the enduring legacy of agriculture and the families who continue to preserve the county's rich farming heritage. The agriculture industry is a large sector of Snohomish County’s economy, representing $280.7 million, according to the most recent U.S. Census of Agriculture (2022).
